Engineering Commissioned for Heavy Truck Roads

Oro Nickel

As part of preparation for DSO operations three possible routes for trucking ore from the plateau to the valley have been scoped and mapped by our management team.  Tetra Tech Proteus in Perth have now been tasked with preliminary assessment, route optimisation and high level engineering design. Their work will be included in our government submissions during 2019.

The three routes all depart from the top plateau at 1,235 metres and descend to the valley floor at about 380 metres where they join the national highway to Oro Bay.

The road lengths - not the straight line but the longer road lengths including curves and turns - are approximately 23 kms, 28.3 kms and 21.5 kms to the point where the route joins the national highway.  The longer distances take advantage of existing government roads so the longest route actually has the shortest requirement for virgin roads to be built.
